Washing instructions for wool
How do I wash my wool blanket?
Wool has good properties that mean you don't have to wash as often, which is good for the environment and climate. The wool contains natural fats and is in itself dirt-repellent. So air often, but wash rarely. It is best to hang out your wool blanket/wool blanket on a day when the weather is damp. Tip! If you want to freshen up your wool blanket, hang it out and air it one day when it's damp outside. You can also lay out your wool blanket in clean snow and brush lightly.
Our five best tips for washing wool can be found here:
- Feel free to wash in the machine, but always choose the wool programme
- Use detergent specially adapted for wool
- Spin at a low speed, max 800. This also applies if you have washed by hand
- Read and follow the washing instructions for the exact wool blend in your product. For some products only dry cleaning applies. See our list below
- Remove spills before they become permanent stains. The easiest way is to use a damp cloth

To make our wool blankets extra soft and airy, we brush them up. This takes place as one of the last steps in the production chain. That is why there may be some loose fibers of wool on the surface. In use, these loose fibers sometimes form pimples. Pimples are simply caused by abrasion, but they are not difficult to remove. Use a wool comb or battery-powered lint remover.
A blanket can be ruffled several times using e.g. velcro or a steel comb.
Hold the velcro vertically and grasp both ends with your thumb and forefinger. The bend on the velcro "branches" must be in the same direction as you intend to brush. If you hold it right, it should be easy to brush, not choppy and heavy.
Brush the blanket from the inside out with long, even, sweeping strokes . Remember not to brush too hard - then it is easy to get stuck and pull away too much of the wool fibers .
Go through the blanket piece by piece until it is airy and smooth on the surface . Feel free to finish by hanging out and shaking the blanket .
